Yes it is, have a look at "local node" in the howto. Might be tricky
depending on the choosen network topology (NAT/DR/TUN) and/or userspace
tools. But still doable.

I'm running a two web servers cluster, each acting both as director and
real server. Works quite well. Adding load balacing to external servers
would be as easy as 123 !
