LVS via Direct routing

Hi all,
  I am new to this list. I am trying to implement LVS on my mailservers
running POSTFIX+SpamAssassin . I was looking for some technical docs on
how this LVS via direct routing works and what are its limitations.

I read all about the pluses of direct routing , so why do people use
tunnelling LVS after all ?
