Hello, all.

I have a problem that I'm having a terrible time addressing.

I have the following setup.

V1: MySQL server
V2: MySQL server
V3: Web server
V4: Web server

How do they fit into the LVS?

The MySQL servers are replicated, meaning they contain the same information. I've successfully set up an LVS on V3

LVS director?

that connects to V1 and V2 according to which one of them is up. The VIP on V3 can be reached from V4 and from that point of view, everything is great. The problem is that it cannot be reached from V3 itself, which is what I desperately need.

why?

This is a major problem because V4 is going to be the backup LVS server when V3
goes down.

on failover can you shift the VIP from one machine to the other and run ipvsadm on the new director?

As to your other questions: I can't tell that you need a client on the director yet.
