I have LVS solutions in place for both Apache and now Squid.

I am not trying to implement a solution for outbound email (inbound in
handled by DNS ... at least its better than nothing!)

I have set up ldirectord as follows....

checktimeout=20
checkinterval=5
autoreload=yes
quiescent=no
logfile="info"
virtual=140.203.7.80:25
        real=140.203.7.16:25 gate
        real=140.203.9.96:25 gate
        service=smtp
        checkport=25
        checktype=connect
        protocol=tcp
        scheduler=rr

Watching output from ipvsadm, it does the required health checks and the
RIPs appear in the table. However, when I try to send an email to the
VIP, the client lods and error "no route to host".

Any ideas ... the mailservers ij question are Open VMS but I assume that
shouldn't be an issue as the ldirector nodes will only be passing data
through to the mail servers and not expecting and return traffic (m I
assuming crrelty here .... That they don't need the equivalent of the
VIP on a loopback interface of the node.
