I'm not exactly sure whether you mean configuration, data, or both.. :)
If you mean configuration, I would advise you to use Puppet (
http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet ) in combination with subversion or
another VCS to maintain it. ( I prefer it over CFEngine any day! )
For your data, you can take sql dumps, bzip/gzip them, and back those up with
for example bacula. Same with your other pics/music/websites/...

A quick question for those with a bit more experience with running
Virtual Servers...
Having got ours more or less doing what we want, we are now keen to
backup the data we are holding.
Clearly, if the VS was to become fairly full then it would be difficult
to backup everything to the 4gb backup space we have available.
So my question is this...
What backup routines/protocols do others use or recommend to minimise the
hassle should the VS crash and need to be restored from backup.
Basically which directories do others recommend be backed up and by what
means are most doing this to maximise the the benefits of the storage
space available.
We have a 20gb VS with 4gb backup space and will need to back up the SQL
data at a minimum plus the optional stuff we've done to configure the
server.
Anyone have an experience to share?
