Hi,

I'm running into some throughput problems and ran across a previous post,
http://archive.linuxvirtualserver.org/html/lvs-users/2007-12/msg00099.html
with about the same hardware I'm using, and running into the same limitation
in throughput as I am, with both Intel Pro/1000 (e1000) and Broadcom
BCM5708 (bnx2) chipsets.

Pretty much, after I hit that around 450k pps, ksoftirqd starts kicking
in and
pegs the thread at 100% cpu. Any more traffic after that is getting
dropped.

I would like to ask if anyone is running high traffic lvs boxes that process
more then 450k pps? If so, what hardware are you using? I'm looking
for recommendations on cpu type, bus speed, nic, or any other tips you
guys may have.

One follow up to the post I mentioned,
http://archive.linuxvirtualserver.org/html/lvs-users/2007-12/msg00102.html
mentioned using 10GE cards. Any specific brand/model? Is there any killer
card out there that'll take an extremely high ammount of traffic?

Thanks for any input.

- Eric
