I would like to set up LVS to provide maximum possible throughput for
_incoming_ FTP traffic (up to 20 Gb/s).

With only outgoing traffic, the setup would be easy: just set up
everything in DR mode, and any outgoing traffic would go directly to the
internet.

As here, the majority of traffic is incoming, pushing everything through
the balancer would make a single bottleneck on the director.

How do you setup high throughput systems with majority of incoming
traffic? One can be tempted to use round robin DNS, but it has its own
set of flaws.

The setup is as below (servers have 1 Gbit cards):

                             /------realserver (FTP) 1
internet 20 Gbit -- director ------realserver (FTP) .
                             \------realserver (FTP) n
                     (backup
                    director)

FTP has control and data connection traffic, so it can play a role in my
setup.
