Yep, this looks like my case:

If the backup director has ipvsadm entries then even though it's not 
receiving packets directly from the internet, a connection request can 
be forwarded from the active director. The backup director will attempt 
to loadbalance this request, which could be sent back to the active 
director. You are now in a loop.


Thanks for the pointers, I'll see if I can solve it in my setup.
