I was thinking about that. When I sent out the previous email , I was not
sure if starting ldirectord as a kind of "standalone" process ( as opposed
to having heartbeat start it ) would cause a problem . I gather from Horm's
email ( thanks Horms :) that it is a seperate entity and its ok to
stop/restart it without adversly affecting heartbeat. 

I guess the only thing I would lose by using init , is the fact ldirectord
would not stop when heartbeat stops .
