You can put in a default gw if you like. No-one else seems to worry about
it as much as I do.

do you have RTNETLINK built into the kernel?

the script does a lot of checking, makes sure the VIP is hidden, 
sets up routing and routes packets by service 
so that only the services you nominated in the conf file are routed.
It assumes you're using the hidden patch.

If you're prepared to install the VIP, hide it and set the default gw
then you're home. Look at the script for setting up an LVS from the command line
in the mini-HOWTO.

I presume you could use Maurizio's instructions for noarp and then
run the script run the realservers without the hidden patch and ignore
the errors you get concerned with hiding the VIP
