Well, I did exactly that and now it compiles fine. Something must have gotten hosed along the way somehow.

Thanks.

I'm trying to compile a kernel with the hidden patch and it dies just
like this:

root@lb1:/usr/src/linux# make menuconfig
Makefile:38: /Rules.make: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `/Rules.make'. Stop.

It is a stock 2.4.6 kernel with XFS and ipvsadm patches. Before I
applied the hidden-2.4.5-1.diff patch from Julian's page, all makes
worked fine. After I applied it, I got the above message.

Make a fresh tree. If the result is same then reading some
kernel HOWTOs will be helpful. Or may be you can find how the "hidden"
patch breaks the tree?

Any ideas?
Is there a better 'hidden' patch?

No. If yes, it is so hidden that even I don't know its place :)

Thanks!

Kelly
