Hrm...

Are you doing your testing from clients on the same LAN as the VIP, by any chance? Have you set the netmask on the lo:0 VIP address on the realservers to 255.255.255.255?

I can see that making it a /24 mask - 255.255.255.0 - might result in the realservers thinking that the client is actually local to them, thus dropping the packets.

If you can give us some more detail on your actual configuration - numbers, masks etc - that might help.
