95% of the migration went smoothly; no problems at all, however there's one

do you have the LVS-NAT ftp helper module on the director?
http://www.austintek.com/LVS/LVS-HOWTO/HOWTO/LVS-HOWTO.services.multi-port.html#ftp_helper_module
I've read that the module 'ip_vs_ftp' needs to be inserted into the kernel,
however when I do that, FTP fails for everything (including behind my cisco)
I guess you do.
There have been problems with the helper module
http://www.austintek.com/LVS/LVS-HOWTO/HOWTO/LVS-HOWTO.LVS-NAT.html#LVS-NAT_ftp_bug
but not what you're experiencing. You have to figure out why
the helper isn't helping.
I assume you've read the ftp sections in the HOWTO including
12.5.1?
I've no idea if it's relevant, but I'm running ProFTPd (as you can see from
the above transcript)
could be. Have you debugged the connection with netcat,
firstly connecting directly to the realserver and then to
the realserver through the director.
I don't care which FTP I get working, active or passive,
you do. You need both. Some client sites block one of them
(they do at my work).
