Multicast does things that look like this. Would it work here?
(Lets say you could find a way to send a packet to all n real-servers,
you're also going to have to handle n replies. Presumably someone will
come up with a way of doing this and we'll all slap our foreheads and go
"Doh, that is so obvious").
