One more question, since CPU usage for LVS is so low will processor cache
affect it? Can I expect a P4 w/1MB cache to outperform a P4 w/512KB (I'm
talking LVS performance only here)?

Allan,
LVS isn't really constrained by CPU or even I/O for that matter on
modern hardware.
CPU usage is near zero on several fanless EPIA based (500Mhz) load
balancers I've used.
