cluster vs. lvs

This might be the stupidest question on earth but I was only curious....

 

 

Lets say there is a cluster with master node and others are just slave 
nodes....if you are setting up lvs with director and real servers....is master 
node the place where the director is set up and the nodes are where the real 
servers are set up?????

 

or I am getting it wrong?
