Yep, I did it with FreeBSD boxes. FreeBSD 3.1 - 3.4 works for sure. It's
in the Howto. You can contact me if you need detailed instructions how
to set up the FreeBSD nodes.
Basically it's:
ifconfig lo0 alias VIP netmask 255.255.255.255 -arp up
