I did a locate on rc.lvs and found no instance of this file.

just a notice. kernel 2.4.18 did not exist back then. This is in case LVS

something's wrong here. can you run

sh -x rc.lvs >rc.lvs.out 2>&1

and look at the lines before this error to see what's wrong. If
it doesn't make any sense to you, can you send rc.lvs.out _offline_
to me at jmack@xxxxxxxx and I'll look at it there.
