connection sync at failover, email, and using only basic IP mgmt

I have three questions.

First, I've just setup two directors using keepalived. It's awesome! I
tested with a ping flood and pulled the CAT5 out and it took 1/100th of
a second to switch over (lost pings for only 1/100th of a second).
That's amazing.

Since I'm only using keepalived the current connections aren't carried
over to the backup at sync. I'm running Fedora 4 with the 2.6.11 kernel
(can easily upgrade to 2.6.15). But I don't see any IPVS syncd patches
for this kernel. Is it included? And if yes, how do I configure it to
sync up between the master and backup?

Second. Email doesn't work with keepalived. I get 501 and 550 errors
when it tries to send email. I've had it try to use the local sendmail
server as well as another production server. It just flat can't send
email. Errors are failing to handle RCPT or HELO (depends on which
server I tell it to use). I've searched these errors and found some
foreign list discussing the same problem but couldn't really tell if
they had it solved or if they did, how.

Third. I believe I can use keepalived to just switch a VIP and GIP
between two servers that act as routers (one master, one backup) without
needing to run any services behind them. You guys see any problems with
going this route?

Thanks for all your help!
