They time-out. But only after i start pressing keys on the client it will
time-out a short while later (30s? i'm not sure).

Do they disconnect with the connection
reset (TCP-RST, ICMP error) or connection timed out (no packet flow)? In
case it is reset, can you monitor the network traffic to see what sends
the reset?


I'll have tcpdump running and test some more. I'm not totally comfortable
with tcpdump but i guess it's possible to monitor the connection failure
with it. At the very least i'll be able to give some more information about
it.
