actually, no.  Pings do not work going to another computer.  pinging
localhost and eth0:n from tunl0:0 does work.  Maybe some sort of routing
issue or other minor conf issue?

eh?  Like a fwmark?  I'm not.  Nothing in the howtos suggest that I need to.
