Hi Ted,
With VS-DR, the director arps for the RIPs (unique) and sends
a packet to the real-server with a dest MAC address of the RIP and
and dst IP=VIP (which I'm sure you know).

is this what you meant to say or do you have "director" in this sentence twice?

if it's ATM and if the problem is that ATM can't handle multiple MAC addressed
for
an IP, he's still going to be getting packets back from the
VIPs on all the different real-servers to the ATM router.
